Chiropractic Care for Breech Baby in Oconomowoc, WI

You just found out your baby is breech. Maybe you're 32 weeks and your midwife mentioned it casually. Maybe you're 36 weeks and your OB is already talking about a scheduled cesarean. Either way, you're searching for options and you want to know if there is anything you can do.

There is. And the earlier you start the better.

At Essence Family Chiropractic, we work with pregnant moms whose babies are in a breech or posterior position using the Webster Technique, a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment focused on the pelvis and surrounding soft tissues. We are not here to manually flip your baby. We are here to create the conditions in your body where your baby has the freedom to move into an optimal position on their own.

What Webster Technique Does and Does Not Do

It is important to be clear about this because there is a lot of misinformation out there.

The Webster Technique does not turn babies. It is not a version procedure and it should not be confused with an external cephalic version (ECV), which is a medical procedure performed by an OB or midwife.

What the Webster Technique does is address tension, restriction, and imbalance in the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding ligaments and muscles. When the pelvis is out of balance, the uterus can become torqued or restricted in ways that limit the space available for your baby to move freely. By restoring balance and reducing that tension, we create more room in the uterine environment for your baby to find their own optimal position.

Many moms who come in for breech baby support see their baby turn after beginning Webster Technique care. But that is the baby responding to a better environment, not something we did directly to the baby.

Why Pelvic Balance Matters for Baby Positioning

The uterus is held in place by a series of ligaments that attach to the pelvis and sacrum. When there is tension or asymmetry in the pelvis, those ligaments can pull unevenly on the uterus, creating a torsion that restricts how freely your baby can move and rotate.

A balanced pelvis means balanced ligaments. Balanced ligaments mean a more symmetrical uterine environment. And a more symmetrical uterine environment gives your baby the best possible opportunity to settle into a head-down position before birth.

How We Assess You

Before we begin any care, we run an INSiGHT nervous system scan. This gives us a clear picture of how your nervous system is functioning and where tension or stress may be present. Combined with a thorough assessment of your pelvis and surrounding soft tissues, we build a care plan specific to your body and your pregnancy.

We also want to know your full pregnancy history, how you've been feeling, and what your birth preferences are. That context matters enormously in how we approach your care.

What to Expect

Webster Technique care is gentle and specifically designed for pregnant bodies. You will lie on a special pregnancy pillow that allows you to be fully supported and comfortable, even in the third trimester.

Most moms who come in for breech baby support are seen multiple times per week in the weeks leading up to birth. The sooner you start the more time we have to work with. We recommend coming in as soon as you become aware of your baby's position rather than waiting to see if they turn on their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

How effective is Webster Technique for breech babies?
Research and clinical experience both support Webster Technique as a valuable tool for supporting optimal fetal positioning. Results vary depending on how early care begins, how many weeks remain in the pregnancy, and individual factors. We will give you an honest assessment of your situation after your first visit.

When should I start care if my baby is breech?
As soon as possible. If you are 32 weeks or beyond and your baby is not yet head down, now is the time to come in. The window for your baby to turn naturally narrows as you approach your due date.

Can I do Webster Technique alongside an ECV?
Yes. Many moms choose to pursue both. Chiropractic care before an ECV can help prepare the pelvis and soft tissues, which may support a better outcome from the procedure. We are happy to coordinate with your OB or midwife.

What if my baby doesn't turn?
We will be honest with you throughout the process. If your baby has not turned and your birth date is approaching, we will help you understand your options and support you in whatever birth experience you are moving toward. Chiropractic care supports your nervous system and body regardless of how your baby is positioned.

Will my OB or midwife support me seeing a chiropractor?
Many OBs and midwives in the Lake Country area are familiar with Webster Technique and supportive of their patients seeking chiropractic care. We are happy to communicate with your provider directly if that would be helpful.

Your baby still has time to turn. Let's give them the space they need.

If your baby is in a breech or posterior position and you want to explore your options, we would love to help. Start with a New Patient Exam and INSiGHT nervous system scan.
