Whether you're pregnant, postpartum, or raising a family — you deserve care that looks at the whole picture. That's what we do here.
Our Approach
We look at your nervous system first.
Most chiropractic offices look at your spine and ask where it hurts. We start somewhere different.
Before we ever make an adjustment, we run an INSiGHT nervous system scan. It is a non-invasive, no-radiation assessment that gives us an objective picture of how your nervous system is functioning right now — where stress is being held, how your body is adapting, and where interference is getting in the way of your health.
This is not guesswork. It is a real picture of what is happening inside your body so we can build a care plan that is specific to you, not a generic protocol.
What Neurologically Focused Chiropractic Care Means
The nervous system controls everything. Your brain communicates with every organ, tissue, and cell in your body through your nervous system. When that communication is clear and uninterrupted, your body does what it was designed to do: heal, grow, regulate, and thrive.
When there is interference in that system — from physical stress, emotional stress, chemical stress, or the cumulative load of all three — your body starts to struggle. In babies this can look like colic, reflux, or feeding difficulties. In kids it can look like sensory challenges, focus issues, or recurring ear infections. In pregnant moms it can look like pain, discomfort, or a nervous system that cannot settle. In adults it can look like tension, fatigue, and a body that never quite feels right.
Neurologically focused chiropractic care addresses the root cause of that interference, not just the symptom on the surface.
The INSiGHT Scan
The INSiGHT nervous system scan uses three technologies to assess your nervous system:
Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures how well your nervous system adapts to stress and recovers from it. It gives us a global picture of your overall nervous system health.
Surface EMG measures the electrical activity of the muscles along your spine. Muscle tension patterns tell us where your nervous system is working overtime and where energy is being wasted.
Thermal Scan measures temperature differences along the spine, which reflect how well your autonomic nervous system is regulating your organs and glands.
Together these three measurements give us a complete, objective picture that guides every care decision we make.
What Care Looks Like at EFC
Every care plan at Essence Family Chiropractic is built around your scan findings, your health history, and your goals — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
We see patients of every age. Newborns from their first days of life. Pregnant moms from the first trimester through the final weeks before birth. Kids navigating developmental challenges. Families who want to be proactive about their health before something goes wrong.
Adjustments are always specific, always gentle, and always appropriate for the body receiving them. Newborn adjustments use feather-light pressure. Pediatric adjustments are nothing like adult adjustments. Every technique is calibrated for the person on the table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only see pregnant women and children?
No. While prenatal and pediatric care is our specialty and passion, we serve whole families. That includes moms, dads, kids of all ages, athletes, and adults who want to prioritize their nervous system health. The most effective way to build a healthy community is to care for the whole family.
Will I be adjusted on my first visit?
Not on day one. We split the new patient experience into two visits. On day one we run your INSiGHT scan, take a thorough history, and gather everything we need. On day two Dr. Kate reviews all findings with you, presents her recommendations, and your first adjustment happens that day if you choose to move forward. We do not guess with your health.
Do you accept insurance?
We are out of network with all insurance providers. We made this choice intentionally so we can work for you, not for a premium. Being cash-based allows us to create truly individualized care plans, offer transparent pricing, and spend the time with each patient that they actually need. We provide superbills for patients who want to submit to their insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
Why should my child see a chiropractor?
The nervous system drives development. When a child's nervous system is under stress — from birth interventions, developmental demands, environmental load, or cumulative physical and emotional stress — it affects everything: sleep, digestion, behavior, focus, immunity, and growth. Chiropractic care supports the nervous system so kids can develop, regulate, and thrive the way they were designed to.
What are the benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy?
When the pelvis is balanced and the nervous system is functioning well, the body can adapt more effectively to the demands of pregnancy. Most moms experience less pain, more comfort, and better sleep. Webster Technique specifically supports pelvic balance and nervous system function, giving your baby the space they need and your body the support it deserves throughout every trimester.
