Prenatal Chiropractic Care & Webster Technique in Oconomowoc, WI
You're growing a human. Your body is doing something extraordinary and it's asking a lot of your nervous system to do it.
For many pregnant moms in Lake Country, the aches show up first. Back pain that won't quit. Hip tightness that makes sleeping impossible. Sciatica that shoots down your leg. Pubic symphysis pain that makes every step feel like a test. These aren't just normal parts of pregnancy to white-knuckle through. They're signals that your nervous system and pelvis need support.
At Essence Family Chiropractic, we offer neurologically-focused prenatal chiropractic care designed to help your body do what it was built to do: carry and deliver your baby with more ease, more comfort, and more confidence.
What Is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment used during pregnancy. It focuses on the pelvis, sacrum, and surrounding soft tissues to reduce tension and restore balance in the pelvic bowl.
When the pelvis is balanced and the nervous system is functioning well, your baby has the space they need to move freely and settle into an optimal position for birth. Webster Technique is gentle, safe throughout pregnancy, and used by chiropractors trained specifically in prenatal care.
Dr. Kate Nielsen is Webster Technique certified and has completed advanced perinatal training through The Perinatal Experience, a neurologically-focused clinical training program covering pregnancy, postpartum, and newborn care.
Why We Look at Your Nervous System First
Here's something most providers won't tell you: mom's nervous system sets the blueprint for baby's nervous system.
Before we ever make an adjustment, we run an INSiGHT nervous system scan. It's a non-invasive, no-radiation assessment that shows us exactly how your nervous system is functioning right now. We look at how your body is handling stress, where tension is being held, and how well your nervous system is adapting to the demands of pregnancy.
This isn't guesswork. It's a picture of what's actually happening inside so we can build a care plan that's specific to you and your baby, not just a generic prenatal protocol.
What Prenatal Chiropractic Care at EFC Looks Like
Every visit is gentle, specific, and built around where you are in your pregnancy. We use a special pregnancy pillow that allows you to lie face down safely, yes, even in your third trimester. Most moms tell us it's their favorite part of the week.
Dr. Kate is also a certified International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), one of the only chiropractors in Wisconsin to hold this credential, and a BIRTHFIT Coach. That means your care doesn't stop at delivery. We walk with you through birth recovery, breastfeeding support, and the postpartum season too.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Yes. Prenatal chiropractic care is safe throughout all three trimesters when performed by a trained provider. Dr. Kate is Webster Technique certified and has completed advanced perinatal clinical training through The Perinatal Experience, with specific focus on nervous system care for pregnant moms.
When should I start prenatal chiropractic care?
The earlier the better, but it's never too late. Many moms start in the first trimester to support their body through the changes ahead. Others come in at 36 weeks for Webster Technique to support baby's positioning before birth. Wherever you are, we meet you there.
How often will I need to be adjusted?
That depends on your INSiGHT scan findings and where you are in your pregnancy. We'll give you a specific recommendation after your first visit, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.
Can chiropractic help with a breech baby?
Webster Technique is not a technique to flip babies, but by reducing tension in the pelvis and supporting nervous system balance, many moms see their baby settle into a better position naturally. We have a separate page on breech baby care if that's your primary concern.
Do I need a referral from my OB or midwife?
No referral is needed. Many of our prenatal patients are referred by their OBs and midwives in the Lake Country area and we're happy to co-manage your care with your existing provider.
